On Saturday shortly after 10:30 am, the County County communications sent an alert response for a medical helicopter reporting mechanical difficulties on the way to Smith Reynolds. Fortunately, they did not transport a patient. The emergency protocols were immediately followed and the control of the coordinated air traffic with the agencies necessary to ensure the rapid arrival of the emergency apparatus at the accident site. The helicopter landed safely without injury to crew or passers -by. A spokesperson for Novant Health published the following statement in Wxii: “We can confirm that Apollo Medflight Airport has only landed without products but safe at Smith Reynolds Airport. Saturday, shortly after 10:30 am, Forsyth County Communications sent an alert response for a medical helicopter reporting mechanical difficulties on the way to Smith Reynolds airport.
According to managers, the plane, identified as Novant Health Airlink 4, transported three staff members on board when mechanical problems were reported in flight. Fortunately, they did not transport a patient. The emergency protocols were immediately followed and the control of the coordinated air traffic with the agencies necessary to ensure the rapid arrival of the emergency apparatus at the accident site. The helicopter landed safely without injury to crew or passers -by.
A spokesperson for Novant Health published the following statement in Wxii:
“We can confirm that Apollo Medflight driver made an unforeseen but safe landing at Smith Reynolds airport. No patient was on the helicopter at the time. We are grateful to announce that no one was injured.”
