Technology fueled by AI in local Franciscan health hospitals improves neurological care

The CERIBELL system helps to detect quickly, to treat potentially fatal attacks, to reduce hospital transfers

Franciscan Health transforms neurological care for seriously ill patients in its northwest hospitals of Indiana and the southern suburbs of Chicago with the adoption of the CERIBELL system, an electroencephalography (EEG) device protected by the FDA propelled by artificial intelligence (AI).

Franciscan Health Crown Point, Dyer, Michigan City, Munster and Olympia Fields all use the device in their hospitals. The technology was implemented for the first time at Franciscan Health Michigan City in January 2024 before being adopted at Crown Point hospital in September 2024, in Olympia Fields in December 2024 and in Dyer and Munster hospitals this spring.

Designed for rapid detection of crises and continuous monitoring, this revolutionary technology allows local hospital teams to quickly make critical treatment decisions and potentially provide better results for patients at risk of non -confused crises.

These crises occur without obvious symptoms, which makes them difficult to detect and often delay treatment. Without rapid management with anti-sector drugs, non-confused crises can become more difficult to manage. Similar to stroke, “time is the brain” for convulsions and rapid intervention and intervention are essential as the efficiency of treatment decreases every hour of delay.

The CERIBELL system includes an easy -to -apply headband, portable recorder and intuitive software focused on AI. The configuration takes less than 5 minutes, giving clinicians quick access to EEG data for informed decision -making in a timely time. A recent retrospective analysis revealed that in relation to the conventional EEG, the initial evaluation with Ceribell was associated with a median reduction in the stay in four days.

This technology is not intended to replace conventional EEG monitoring. Rather, it is a complementary solution which allows an enlarged EEG coverage throughout the hospital.
