Partners help create safe environments
The health service Injury prevention program Combines with other community agencies and organizations to create a safe environment for everyone in Philadelphia. We work at:
- Support an approach based on evidence of the reduction of violence.
- Promote safe storage of firearms, especially around children and young people.
- Promote opportunities for young people who minimize exposure to violence and promoted security.
- Partner with community leaders, police and university establishments to study what works to reduce armed violence.
- Watch and study injuries throughout the city to modify prevention efforts with real -time information.
- Watch and study the factors that contribute to violence and injuries.
We do this work through collective efforts to prevent violence on the city level. Our community partnerships for the prevention of violence include Youth Health Corps, the collaborative of intervention of hospital base and community violence intervention Coalition.
Young health corps
The Youth Health Corps (YHC) supports projects led by young people who work to prevent violence, promote food justice and create habitable communities. We associate ourselves with three organizations on unique projects:
Each program strives to use young people who have experienced public health problems, such as community violence or access to food. These young people then work to solve public health problems in their own communities. Thanks to this, young leaders are able to deepen their understanding of Social factors that have an impact on the health and safety of the neighborhood. Their projects include firearm storage distribution programs and assessment, conflict resolution training, peer leadership programs and professional development for people aged 14 to 26 who were affected by violence.
Intervention programs of violence in collaborative hospital
Our injury prevention program runs a hospital intervention program program (HVIP). HVIPs are hospital programs that provide informed care of trauma to violence survivors. Hvips provides survivors’ resources and support services as they recover. In doing so, they work to break the cycles of violence and stop repeated injury. HVIP care goes beyond the health environment because patients are connected with Housing assistance, mental health support, support for trauma, and more.
Collaborative HVIP focuses on improving care, commitment and support services for survivors of armed violence. It also helps develop the Future practices and orientations From Hvips to Philadelphia. All level 1 trauma centers in Philadelphia participate, as well as hospitals in the Grand Philadelphia region. A lot Hvips are located in Philadelphia and include:
- Einstein trauma intervention program (TIP)
- Advocacy program for victims of temple trauma (Vap))
- Children’s Hospital Intervention Program (Chop))
- Drexel Healing injured people At St. Christopher Hospital for children and at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital
- The Penn trauma intervention program (Ptvrp))
- Heal the violence Philadelphia
