UCONN health researchers are studying how phagocytes feel, taste, digest and react to eat and eliminate debris or foreign particles inside the body
Groups of cells called phagocytes are like our body cleaning teams – eat and eliminate debris or foreign particles. Uconn Kai Li’s health immunologist developed a unique system called Phagopl to capture and study how phagocytes feel, taste, digest and respond to their “meal”. Understanding this process is relevant to the development of treatments for many diseases, such as lupus, sepsis or cancer.
