Visit of the marshes

The Redwood Region Audubon Society will present a free guided excursion to the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Bring binoculars and meet the Ken Burton travel chief at the end of South I Street (Klopp Lake) in Arcata to enjoy an incredible view of Humboldt bay, easy to travel trails and a great diversity of birds.

Get the marsh

The friends of the Arcata Marsh will sponsor a free visit to the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday.

Meet the leader Barbara Reisman at 2 p.m. in the Arcata Marsh interpretative center on South G Street for a 90 -minute tour that will focus on plants. This event takes place of rain or good weather. For more information, call 707-826-2359.

Wetlands newspapers

The Redwood REGION AUDUBON SOCIETY will hold the working day of the AA WIGI wetlands from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Volunteers are necessary to help create native habitats suitable for birds and restore a section of the bay path by eliminating invasive plants and waste. The trails section is located behind the Bayshore shopping center and the volunteers will meet in the parking lot directly behind Walmart.

Audubon will provide packaged tools, gloves and snacks. Contact Eric Nelson Etn3115@icloud.com for more information.

Bird walk

The Redwood REGION AUDUBON SOCIETY will present a walk of the southern birds of Humboldt on Saturday.

This walk includes two to three kilometers of sweet walking through the forests, meadows and hard wood, with species of birds varying depending on the season. Residents all year round include Jays, Towhees, Peaks and several raptor species.

Go to the Tooby Park car park located a mile west of Garberville on Sprowl Creek Road. This trip generally occurs the fourth Saturday of each month at 8:30 am but is likely to change. Contact Tess McGuire to RSVP at TMCGUIRE9130@gmail.com.

Breakfast and books

The Trinidad Lions will organize a pancake breakfast and a sale of books Sunday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Trinidad school.

The menu includes pancakes, a choice of ham or sausage and eggs, or cookies and sauce and eggs, plus a drink. The cost is $ 8 for adults and $ 4 for children. Profits will benefit the activities of young people, communities and schools.

Nature journalization

The friends of the Arcata Marsh will continue its free 90 -minute monthly activity, “Nature Journaling at the Marsh”, Sunday at 10 am

This event is led by the retired professor and naturalist of Marsh, Lynn Jones. No pre-registration is required, but the sessions are limited to the first 10 people to come to the Arcata Marsh Interpretative Center on South G Street, Arcata. All ages are welcome, as long as participants are able to concentrate quietly for an extended period in a place selected in the Marais.

The foam will provide pliers and colored pencils; Participants must bring their own paper and an implementation of writing their choice to JOT notes. A stamp on which sitting or a folding chair is optional, just like twins and guides. Participants must wear clothes suitable for bad weather, which may include a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Dancing evening

A dance showing live music and “A Great Floor” takes place on Mondays from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Moose Lodge, 4328 Campton Road, Eureka. The entrance is $ 9.

More dance

The Eureka Brass Band will organize its first dancing evening of all ages of the season on July 18 at Humboldt Grange No. 501, 5845 Humboldt Hill Road, Eureka.

The doors open at 7 p.m., with music from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., music includes swing, jazz, standards and more. Entrance is $ 5, with children under 12 free. Refreshments will be available. For more information, send an email to eurekabrass101@gmail.com.
