Shereef Elnahal, MD, is about to become the next president of Oregon Health & Science University.

Chad Paulson, Chairman of the University Board of Directors, said that Elnahal had been appointed President-Provener of the OHSU. The Board of Directors of the Ohsu should vote to confirm Elnahal as president at a meeting on June 27.

Elnahal was previously CEO of the Veterans Health Administration, which serves more than 9 million veterans and operates 170 medical centers.

He also brings experience in a university medical center. Elnahal was president and chief executive officer of the Newark University Hospital, the main university medical center of the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek said in a statement: “The elected president, Dr. Shereef Elnahal, has experience and achievements to introduce OHSU in the future and continue to conduct health care, education and research.”

A committee of 25 members, which included doctors, nurses and scientists, conducted research.

Elnahal recently co-written A study that examined professional exhaustion at the Health Administration Veteranswhich has noted an improvement but that the levels of professional exhaustion remain higher than during the pre-countryic years.

In an article on LinkedIn on the study, Elnahal praised progress but also noted the “persistent feeling that we just need to do more to support our workforce in different fields”.

Froedtert Thedacare appoints the regional president

Lynn DeTterman was appointed president of the northern region of Froedter Thedacare Health.

Detterman will oversee a large band of the Wisconsin health system, including the Fox Valley region and five surrounding rural markets, as well as the lake, Oshkosh, Manitowoc and Sheboygan regions.

“I am grateful to the opportunity to play this new role where I can continue to support our teams which provide complete and high quality care for patients and families,” said Detterman in a statement. “I am enthusiastic about the future where we can further support our mission to improve the health and well-being of our communities, and help people live their unique and best life.”

Imran A. Andrabi, MD, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Froedtert Thedacare Health, said that Detterman is “really dedicated to advancing our mission and our vision”.

“His strategic leadership centered on people supports our organization’s commitment to expand access, to continue high -quality care and to reimagine the future of health care,” Andrabi said in a statement.

Determan joined Thedacare in 2020 as the main vice-president of the southern Thedacare region.

Froedtert Thedacare, a system with 18 hospitals and more than 360 other health locations, was created with the fusion of Froedtert and Thedacare systems in 2024.

DIGNITY Health Hospital appoints the chief doctor

Diana Glasser, MD, was appointed chief doctor of the Northridge Hospital Medical Center.

More recently, Glasser has been a chief doctor at Southern Hills Hospital, an HCA health facility in Las Vegas.

“I am honored to return to Dignity Health in this new role,” gleaned in a statement. “This community occupies a special place in my heart, and I look forward to working with the exceptional team of the Northridge hospital to advance our mission of compassionate and high quality care for all.”

Jeremy Zoch, president and chief executive officer of the hospital, said that “the in -depth understanding of our icing organization and its demonstrated leadership in clinical operations made it an exceptional choice to lead our medical team”.

“His dedication to care centered on the patient and continuous improvement reflects the mission and the values ​​of Dignity Health,” said Zoch in a statement.

Glasser has sat on national committees for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center appoints two key leaders

Penn State Health announced the appointment of two key leaders to the Lancaster Medical Center.

Angela Sonon was appointed principal vice-president and chief of the hospital, and Valerie Ritter was appointed vice-president and nursing chief. The two started in their new roles on June 1. They had served in a provisional capacity in recent months.

Sonon joined the Lancaster Medical Center in July 2022, being initially principal director of quality and medical affairs before participating in the position of acting chief. She worked before at Tower Health.

Ritter also worked at Tower Health before joining the Lancaster Medical Center. She was director of nursing for the Emergency Service at Potstown Hospital.

Joseph Frank, president of the hospital in the eastern region of Penn State Health, praised Sonon and Ritter for their contributions.

“The two went beyond in their temporary positions, gaining confidence and respect for their teams and colleagues,” Frank said in a statement. “Their passion, their expertise and their commitment to excellence will continue to advance the Lancaster Medical Center as we grow and serve our community with exceptional care.”
