The temple of renown Joe Thomas discusses adaptation to university football, NFL

The NFL renowned temple, Joe Thomas, answers questions from the sports editor of the Lycée Dispatch Andy Resnik at the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards.

  • Jake struck Olentangy Liberty and Christian Thompson from Fairfield Union was appointed athlete of the year.
  • Liberty football coach John Sansbury, and the Women’s Centennial basketball coach Ernest Bell won the prizes of the year’s coach.
  • The Upper Arlington Hockey team and the Fairfield Union basketball team were appointed teams of the year.

The best athletes, coaches and teams of the Central Ohio – The best of the best for 2024-25 – were honored on June 18 at Upper Arlington Secondary School.

Jake d’Olentangy Liberty struck,, Christian Thompson of Fairfield Union,, Liberty Football coach John SansburyBasketball coach of the Centennial Girls Ernest Bell, the Hockey Upper Arlington team and the Fairfield Union basketball team won the best honors at the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards.

In addition, the best 30 -sports athletes were honored during the show, which was produced with the support of Meijer. The temple of Cleveland Browns, Joe Thomas, was the guest speaker.

Struck was appointed boys athlete of the year. The price was awarded by Meijer. He helped Liberty win the IT’s football title in Division I, amassing more than 1,800 yards and 31 affected in total. In hockey, Struck scored 47 goals and 49 assists and was appointed player of the year. In the butt, struck contributed 79 goals, 43 assists, 87 bullets on the ground and 24 caused reversals. He also won state titles at hockey and the butt in the second year and junior, respectively. Struck will play the Ohio State butt.

The other finalists were Andrew Leonard de Liberty (Football, Hockey and Baseball) and Levi Davis of Olentangy Orange (football, basketball and track and field).

Thompson was appointed female athlete of the year, which was also presented by Meijer. She crowned her preparation career by winning the high jump (5 feet, 8 inch) during the state competition in division II. This concluded a school year in which she was also the first team of all volleyball and basketball states. In volleyball, Thompson achieved 471 striking attacks, 395 excavations, 41 blocks and 40 AS. In basketball, it has an average of 19.3 points and 11.3 rebounds, leading Fairfield Union to a semi-final of the State of Division IV. Thompson will compete on the track of Ohio State.

The other finalists were Lilly Larosa by Hilliard Davidson Track and Grandview Heights Swimmer Carrie Furbee.

Sansbury won the boys’ coach of the year to guide Liberty Football to her first state championship. The Patriots went 14-2, beating Cincinnati Moeller 28-14 in the match for the title.

For helping the centenary to make history, Bell won the girl coach of the year. The stars (19-2) remained undefeated in the city’s league (12-0) and defeated Africantric 52-47 for their first city championship.

UA Hockey was appointed the team of boys of the year. The Golden Bears have become the second champion of central hockey of OhioAfter Liberty in 2023, when they defeated Cleveland St. Ignatius 5-2 in Nationwide Arena.

Fairfield Union Girls Basketball won the women’s team of the year. The Falcons reached their first state tournament in 26 years and finished 27-1, improving with 19 victories compared to the previous season.

  • Girls Wrestling: Kylee Tibbs, Gahanna Lincoln

Other honors were presented to Addison Edgington of Circleville High School (Courage award), The former coach of the Ohio center and sports director Tony Pusateri (Life success price) and Former coach of the Columbus Academy and Deputy Sports Director Anne Horton (USA Today Studio IX Trailblazer Award).

Furbee, who will swim at the Ohio Stateobtained the commemorative scholarship of Captain B. Sneed, worth $ 3,000, for its academic and sporting achievements and its community service.

Gahanna won the best group, the best mascot and the best cheerleading team. These prices were awarded by Magnetic springs.
