I am an electrician and resident engineer of Columbia Falls and I write to encourage Montanans to consider the impact that the reduction in clean energy tax credits would mean the federal budget for the future of our country. During the last century, the United States led the world to the development of new critical technologies, from microchips to general practitioners and the Internet. These changing history technologies were based on a form of government financial support during their development and marketing. Despite this, the initial investments that taxpayers have made in these technologies have more than paid for themselves and have transformed the United States into military and economic power that we are today.
Technologies such as batteries, solar energy and electric vehicles are very similar in their potential to revolutionize the world in the decades to come. These technologies are in high demand worldwide, and two countries lead to selling them: the United States and China. So, we meet at a crossroads: allow us to become the leader in the next technological revolution, or do we become the leader in the next technological revolution? My vote is for this last option, and the impact tax credits help support American jobs to develop the best technologies that the world has ever known.
Please call the Senators Daines and Sheehy and the representative Zinke. Tell them that the Montanans support tax credits on clean energies. Our future is in the balance. Visit ccl.org/ction for more information.
