We are at the start of a new era in quality engineering, a shaped by agentic AI. While generative AI drew overall attention, the real transformation of software tests is just beginning. I believe that we are now entering a phase where AI does not only help people test the tasks. It becomes autonomous, focused on objectives and capable of acting with intelligence throughout the life cycle.
At Qualizeal, we are witnessing this first hand change. As a person who has spent years in the test space, I can say with confidence that AI is not a distant future. This is here, integrated into our processes today, and it is already starting to disturb the way we think of quality on a large scale.
The disturbance is already underway
Development and software tests are the two most critical pillars of any IT application life cycle. To put a product in the hands of customers, you build it first, then test it and it is only then that you can ship it. We have seen how tools like Github Copilot revolutionized development. Now this same level of adoption of AI occurs in software tests.
It is not a small market – it is a global industry of $ 100 billion. And just as smartphones have once disrupted the devices inherited like Blackberry, AI is ready to transform the tests in the same way. Each phase of the software test life cycle – preparing test cases, test design, test data management, performance tests, site reliability engineering – is now impregnated with AI to increase efficiency, productivity and, ultimately, the quality of the software.
Intelligence automation
Before talking about agentic AI, we must understand the evolution. The first step in the adoption of AI is of automation of repetitive tasks based on rules. Once you have robust automation in place, AI capabilities can be overlapped at the top to improve each test phase.
But the agent AI goes further.
With standard AI, we build prompts, define logic and teach models how to behave. With the AI agent, we create systems that learn, adapt and act independently. These agents follow the instructions and include intention. They can analyze changes in the system, adjust automation scripts accordingly and perform tests without human intervention.
For example, imagine a scenario where a company updates its payment process, perhaps prices or payment options change. In the past, an QA team should manually identify changes, rewrite test scripts and recovery tests. With agent AI, the system learns what has changed, changes scripts, self-healing when errors occur and continue the tests. He even generates a report describing what he has changed and why.

Real business impact
We note both technical advantages and measurable commercial results. With an agentic AI, the cost of quality decreases. According to my observation, the average of industry is today around 18%, but with tests infused by AI, we plan a decrease of 5%, driven by a reduction in manual efforts and increased efficiency. In maintenance alone, we found a 20% reduction in the team’s capacity to less than 5%.
Most importantly, the liberation cycles accelerate. Time to Market (TTM) has gone from quarterly to every week, and now, with IA and DevOps practices, with daily versions. The entire production rate becomes faster and more reliable. And decision -making is more transparent because agent systems ensure complete transparency thanks to real -time reports, eliminating the need to compile data on disparate systems.
Prepare for the next step
Organizations that seek to lead in this space must prepare now. I always say that this moment is not only to catch up – it is a question of disturbing you before being disturbed. The companies waiting for too long will miss the opportunity to lead. Those who invest now will be able to capture market share and build the next generation of test capacities.
This preparation requires both an approach from top to bottom and ascending. Leadership must allocate budgets, not just wait for customer funding, and teams must be empowered to be formed, certified and exposed to different models of AI. AI is no longer just a CIO or CTO conversation. This occurs at the level of the board of directors and for a good reason: it is the foundation of long -term competitiveness.
I recommend that organizations push their teams to reach at least level three in the preparation of AI: basic execution. Basic functions such as engineering and AQ must go further, while auxiliary teams such as finance and marketing should also obtain an exhibition.
Confidence and responsibility
Of course, with great power comes responsibility. We must make sure that agent systems are operating ethically, transparent and safely. In particular in regulated industries such as health care, insurance or banking services, any AI -focused decision, as small, as small, can have massive consequences.
This is why the AI test itself is just as important as using AI for tests. There is a growing demand for specific AI test engineers which can validate agent systems thanks to high -end exploratory techniques. Traditional test models such as equivalence partitioning or limits analysis must now be completed by new approaches adapted to AI behavior.
In the near future, eight to 10 new roles of employment will specifically emerge to test and validate agenic AI systems. It will not be optional. They will be critical of the mission.
Ahead
We believe that the maturity of the AI on a large scale throughout the life cycle of tests will arrive around 2027. By then, we are in the planning and education phase, training models, LLM personalization and construction of the necessary infrastructure. The implementation will accelerate in 2026 and, in mid-2027, I expect the majority of the ENT-based QA environments to be aged by design.
This is a unique opportunity for testers, developers and technology leaders. Professionals of the Z generation, in particular those raised in a digital native world, will have an advantage. They can adopt these tools faster, and many will find themselves building careers in entirely new areas.
We no longer build test systems. We build trust systems. The platforms that learn, adapt and support the continuity of activities without human babysitting. It is the future of the AQ. This is where the agent Ai takes us. And the companies that kiss her today? They will be the ones who will define the quality tomorrow.
