The Waukee CSD athletes have concluded an exciting spring season! We are proud to recognize their efforts and their success. Take a look at the strengths of Spring Varsity Sports at Waukee High School and the Northwest High School:

Tennis

The NWHS women’s tennis team said their very First state title in team tennis! The Wolves also had their best performance for the individual tournament in the history of the school.

  • 2nd double place: MIA DEINES / LONDON TAYLOR
  • 5th place in simple: Riley Hilton
  • 8th double place: Ella Steffensmeier / Kate Odier

The northwest boys’ tennis team won another Team state For the second consecutive year.

  • 3rd place in simple: Jake Nelson
  • 4th place in simple: Kellan Croatt
  • 4th Place Double: Vivek Kothari / Maarten Beekhuis
  • Double of 5th place: Drew Fenton / Vincent Flynn

NWHS had two full in the Coed State Tennis tournament. The Wolves won first and second place!

  • Coed state champion – London Taylor and Jake Nelson
  • Riseau de l’Etat de Coed – Riley Hilton and Kellen Croatt

Golf of girls

NWHS ended his big season as a state competition finalist, losing in the championship at once.

NWHS ADALYN Wiig students, Kendall Curran, and Hannah Kenkel was appointed to the team of all districts.

Soccer

WHS and NWHS hit their tickets for the girls’ state tournament, meeting in the semi-finals. Northwest preceded Waukee 1-0 to move forward, then defeated Linn-Mar 3-2 in the championship to claim the CLASS 3A State title.

The two teams were well represented in the class 3A tournament team. Northwest has selected five players: Grace Thomason, Lindsay Shane, Josie Jones (named Captain), Romey Croatt and Izzy Simonini, while Waukee had two players named in the honorary team: Stella Braddock and Lauren Nidey.

Way

Our athletics programs have had an impressive season. The NWHS women’s team said Title of State team 4A For the third time in four years! There were also six relay winners:

  • Relay four Sprint swimming 800m
  • 400 m spring relay
  • 4x100m relay
  • 4x200m relay
  • 4x100m shuttle relay
  • 4x400m relay

NWHS boys and girls teams had an excellent performance in Drake relays:

  • NWHS Boys Shuttle HURDLE – Drake Relays Record, Record School and Iowa Best of all time
  • NWHS Girls 4 × 400 and 4 × 200 – Fourth consecutive title in the 4 × 200
  • NWHS Girls Shuttle HURDLE – Drake Relays Record
  • NWHS Girls 4 × 100 – Second consecutive title and a Drake Relays recording
  • NWHS won the very first mixed 4 × 400

The NWHS women’s team also won the Drake Relays Cup as the best women’s team.

The Whs Boys team ranked 13th and the women’s team ranked 11th in state competition. The two teams broke several school records:

  • Whs Boys Nuttle Hurdle Relay – 59.31 – Tavian White, Cal Meisner, Lucas Peterson, Noah Hinrichs
  • Whs Boys Distance Medley Relay – 3: 27.75 – Tavian White, Alvin Grier, Jayden Jet, Jonas Vandis
  • Whs Boys 3200m – 9: 09.12 – Jonas Vandis
  • Relais Whs Girls 4x100m – 48.04 – Lena Bruening, Estelle Hinke, Gentry Williams, Jana Maharry
  • Whs Long Jump – 18’5 ″ – Lena Bruening

Esports

The WHS Esports League of Legends team ended as a finalist in the confrontation of state spring.
