In an article now deleted on his personal Facebook page, the Hamilton County prosecutor, Connie Pillich, said that she would attend a next anti-top demonstration and called the president “incompetent, childish, selfish and without instruction”.
Pillichhe, the first democrat to be prosecutor elected in the county in almost a centurymade the post on Tuesday June 10. He was still visible on the evening of June 11. She had removed it early the next day.
Pillich has started by responding to a Facebook prompt that users see.
“What am I thinking? My job is to pursue people who commit crimes,” wrote Pillich. “But all of this is in the context of such unconstitutional anarchance at the federal level by an incompetent, childish, selfish and without instruction that threatens our democracy even every day.
“Worse, it is supported by vile humans whose acts and advice indicate that they want to destroy our democracy.”
The message shared a list of events for One of the “no Kings” demonstrations Scheduled for June 14, which takes place nationally. “Please join me on Saturday,” she wrote above a link to the protest of the University of Cincinnati.
A spokesperson for Pillichhe did not respond to a request for comments.
Many, in particular supporters of President Donald Trump, responded with indignation or worse, transforming into an injunction.
The Facebook page of the Hamilton County Republican Party said that Pillichhe’s declaration labeling supporters of Trump as “Vil” denigrated the millions of Ohioans who voted for him.
“This kind of rhetoric is not only divisor – it is dangerous,” said the position of the Republican Party. “This undermines the foundation of democracy: respect for the will of the people, even when we do not agree. And when it comes from someone in a position of public confidence – in particular a sworn prosecutor to respect the law impartially – this raises serious ethical concerns. “
Other users have accused Pillichi of not being impartial and even being motivated by hatred.
“Do you publicly admit that you will derogate from your responsibilities as a prosecutor to push a political program?” The personality of the conservative radio and the Podcaster Jack Windsor wrote on Facebook. “To say that your voters should be disappointed is an understatement – they deserve better.”
Professor David Niven of the University of Cincinnati, who studies American politics and follows local politics, said that he thought that Pillichi was flowing at the level of his political opponents “.
“Prosecutors are supposed to be above politics” and have the duty “to defend the rule of law,” said Niven, who was a speech editor of the former democratic governor of Ohio Ted Strickland. “Pillich could defend each vulnerable resident of Hamilton county in the exercise of his functions. But names of name does not advance this agenda. Although it is undoubtedly satisfactory to speak frankly, Pillich would do better to act on these observations than to make them.”
