Mason City, Iowa – Brad Bonin, a 67 -year -old man from Clear Lake, prosperous in an active lifestyle after overcoming years of severe foot pain in an old football injury.
Bonin’s trip to recovery started when he asked for help from Mercyone North Iowa OrthopeDic Care.
“I thought the pain was normal for my age, but it was much worse,” said Bonin. His knee surgeon, Dr. Daron Jones, referred it to Dr. Tyler Mulkey, a specialist in feet surgery. The radiographs have revealed old fractures in the middle of the foot, probably after years of football crampons.
In May 2024, Bonin underwent a five -hour surgery to repair his foot. He praised the care he received, saying: “Dr. Mulkey and the nurses were fantastic.” Despite a second surgical intervention when his big toe did not heal correctly, Bonin remained attached to its recovery and started physiotherapy in December.
Today, Bonin loves regular training and cycling. He participated in the events of launching weight and records at the Iowa senior games and the national senior games.
“I feel good now, and I learned that life is too short to suffer when you don’t have to,” said Bonin, encouraging others to ask for help. In addition to his active lifestyle, Bonin works as a paraprofessional in Clear Lake Middle School, supporting children at risk. “I believe that each child deserves a chance,” he said.
Mercyone North Iowa OrthopeDic Care says that Bonin’s history highlights the importance of seeking medical aid.
