In a service note on Tuesday, Corinne Chin, director of news talents for recruitment, presented the class of news from the AP news in 2025:
Louis Brettkelly, exit producer trainee, London
Louis Brettkelly recently completed his master’s degree in broadcast journalism at City St. George’s University in London. As a multimedia journalist at City News, he covered stories on television, digital platforms, radio and social media. During his undergraduate studies at the University of Cambridge, he wrote on media manipulation as an authoritarian control tool in Latin America. Louis wants to deepen his understanding of journalism ethics and learning how the editorial rooms engage the digital public, strengthen the confidence and the fight of disinformation. He speaks French and Spanish fluently, with the mastery of work in Portuguese.
Alyce Brown, sports trainee, New York
Alyce Brown is from Iowa and a recent graduate of the Northwestern University, where she broke a national history exhibiting hazing to the Northwestern football team as editor -in -chief of the Daily Northwestern. She has already worked for Propublica, the US Open and the Minnesota Star Tribune. When she is not in the press box, Alyce likes to find the best biographies of Silicon Valley and banana bread recipes.
Joanna Chan, trainee in photography, London
Joanna Chan joins AP as an intern in photography. Originally from Hong Kong, she has started her last year in Goldsmiths, University of London, where she studies journalism. She worked on visual narration projects exploring humanitarian problems, including community awareness in East Africa and personal accounts around identity and resistance. She is also interested in the policy of Eastern Asia, social movements and fauna – in particular great cats.
Lydia Doye, text editing trainee, London
Lydia Doye will join the Global Office Text in London. A talented publisher and writer, Lydia graduated in January with a diploma in multimedia journalism from Associate News, a school accredited by NCTJ which certifies third cycle journalism lessons, after having obtained a baccalaureate from the University of Durham. She worked as part -time foreign journalist in the sun in the spring after having striated in various publications. She fluently speaks of the Spanish and the working Arabic.
INAARA GANGJI, News-GATHERING trainee, NAIROBI
Inaara Gangji is currently a master’s degree in journalism candidate for the Graduate School of Journalism from the UC Berkeley on the multimedia track, combining data and visual journalism to give life to the stories. She obtained her undergraduate diploma in journalism at the Northwestern University and reported on social justice, women’s, business, sports and policies problems in Washington, DC, in East Africa and the Middle East. This year, she received the price of the stock market from the Club of Press Overseas Press and the price of the scholarship holder of the correspondents of the White House. Inaara, an Indian ethnically, was born in Tanzania and grew up between Tanzania and Kenya.
DASIA GARNER, Multimedia Stagy, Washington, DC investigations
Dasia Garner is an increase in the North Carolina A&T State University specializing in mass communication. His experience includes anchoring, production and multimedia narration. Originally from Chicago, she worked as a producer trainee at the Fox8 WGHP in High Point, in North Carolina, and executive producer of the information station led by students from her university. She is a scholarship in scientific journalism of HBCU on the MIT of MIT scientific journalism program, emphasizing nutritional health. Garner is an investigative trainee Ida B. Wells Society and member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Jaylen Green, breed trainee and ethnicity news, New York
Jaylen Green graduated from Columbia University with a master’s degree in journalism. He was the producer of “Where We Wake Up”, a Podcast based in Atlanta which tells the stories of the Z generation, millennials and cultural changes. Before continuing journalism, Jaylen worked as a parajurist, interned for a member of the Congress and attended the Political Bootcamp of the Congressal Black Caucus Institute. He was a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Black Journalists from Columbia.
Reeno Hashimoto, newsgathering trainee, Tokyo
Reeno Hashimoto studied financial accounting, finance and strategy on the Dartmouth pre-MBA bridge program, graduated from Brown University and is a recent graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She worked on the Japanese unit of the United Nations Development Program, where she also looked for the implications of North Korean nuclear activities in East Asia. Reeno is half Japanese and was born and grew up in New York. She spent childhood summers in Tokyo and Rural Colorado, where her father comes from. She is multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, and eager to cover these beats in Japan.
Michaela Herbst, data trainee, San Francisco
Michaela Herbst holds a master’s degree in data journalism from the University of Stanford and a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in political science from the University of Colorado Boulder. She was Carnegie-Knight News21 Fellow at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. Its distinctions include several Eppy, Telly and Webby prizes, the RFK Human Rights Award for Journalism and the Mark of Excellence of Society of Professional journalists. In Stanford, she worked for the peninsula and as editor -in -chief of the Stanford Daily. Michaela has reported subjects such as the role of artificial intelligence in access to abortion, Hillary Clinton’s books tour and California elections. She has contributed to the efforts of the Washington Post to implement natural language processing models in her strength police shooting database.
Gabe Levin, newsgathering trainee, Dubai
Gabe Levin was editor -in -chief of Cornell Daily Sun in Ithaca, New York, where he frequented the university. He has already worked for Haaretz in Israel and the voice of America, and he has independent for other points of sale. Gabe will graduate next summer with a bachelor’s degree in the Middle East and English literature, and he is a recipient of the Scholar Prize of the Foundation of the Press Club abroad. During his free time, he likes to walk his cat scoop, rock climb and play the guitar.
Itzel Luna, entertainment intern, Los Angeles
Itzel graduated from the University of Stanford with a baccalaureate in sociology with data science and a simultaneous master’s degree in journalism. Originally from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, she was a journalist and editor -in -chief of the Stanford Daily news section, and did an internship for the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Calmatters and Ktla. Found Spaniard, Itzel mainly reported on issues of social justice, Latin American communities, immigration and education. In the newspaper, she covered the intersection of business and entertainment.
Lorna Petty, social video trainee, London
Lorna Petty graduated this spring with her master’s degree in journalism and her international affairs in Sciences Po in Paris. She has experience in a variety of local and national British media, including Telegraph and Prospect magazine. Lorna likes to present herself on questions related to human rights and social inequalities.
LUUNA RODRIGUEZ-FEO VILEIRA, Live blog intern, Washington, DC
Luuna Rodriguez-Feo Vileira, from Miami, graduated in 2025 from the University of Florida, where she specialized in journalism and anthropology. She was editor-in-chief of Atrium Magazine, the narrative publication of non-fiction from her school. She previously interned for the Miami Herald public commitment team, where she wrote local stories and public policy stories, in addition to managing the newsletter of the newspaper and social media. When she does not write, she can be found by sipping green tea and by practicing her dog down (but not both).
Claudia Rosel, trainee in photography, Mexico City
Claudia Rosel is a Spanish photographer and filmmaker focused on stories at the intersection of migration, climate and conflicts. Previously, she worked in East Africa, spending four years between Kenya and Somalia to document crises, in particular drought and traffic paths for human beings. She graduated with a master’s degree in documentary film by Columbia Journalism School, and she has baccalaureate diplomas in audiovisual media and advertising at the University of San Pablo Ceu in Madrid.
Hyojin Yoo, Data Visualization Design Stagre, New York
Hyojin Yoo joins us as an intern of data visualization designer in the New York office. It is currently pursuing a master’s degree in data analysis and visualization at the Cuny Graduate Center and holds an MFA in the digital media of the Rhode Island School of Design. Hyojin brings solid experience in the design of the user / UX interface and frontal development, after working at the PSSST studio and as a design and technology consultant at Shared Value Media, where she has contributed to large-scale public initiatives, including COVVI-19 response campaigns.
River Zhi-Hui Zhang, trainee video journalist, Washington, DC
River Zhi-Hui Zhang recently worked at the New York Post, where she produced political and commercial videos for the company’s home page and social media accounts. She also has experience in filming news events and long documentaries, including a PBS project on the preservation of democracy in Thailand. Zhang graduated from New York University, with specialization in News & Documentary. During her stay in Nyu, she won the Don R. Mellette Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism.
