Peel Regional Police dismantled a sophisticated car theft ring, recovered nearly $4 million in stolen vehicles and filed more than 100 criminal charges.
The network, which targeted more than 100 vehicles near Toronto Pearson International Airport, specialized in new high-end models such as Lexus SUVs, Toyota trucks and Ram trucks.
In July 2024, investigators identified a trend in vehicle thefts in the area. By leveraging advanced crime mapping and data analysis, they discovered a coordinated network operating out of Quebec.
“We understand the price to pay for anyone who has their vehicle stolen. It is distressing and disrupts daily life,” Peel police wrote in a press release.
