DFW airport modernizes passport control points

Dallas – DFW Airport shows new technologies aimed at obtaining the citizens of the United States more quickly thanks to passport control points.

Improved passenger treatment

What we know:

With the summer travel season, customs and the protection of the United States (CBP) borders want to familiarize the new security improvements to the DFW international terminal.

“One of our most exciting progress is the improved treatment of passengers or the EPP as we call it,” said CBP’s executive assistant commissioner Diane Sabatino.

EPP is a contactless process intended to be effective and secure.

By figures:

DFW airport is one of 11 international airports with advanced technology.

The large airport has invested more than $ 32 million to integrate and accelerate technology that helps international arrivals.

But CBP said it has already seen a 25% reduction in waiting times for American citizens.

And with DFW airport which is expected to reach 7 million passengers per year by 2030, airport leaders think that modernization is crucial.

What they say:

“Technology must become a safety and customer experience engine,” said DFW Airport CEO Chris McLaughlin.

How does it work?

The security screening process begins as soon as a passengers heads to the tablet. Eligible passengers do not have to show their passport.

“There are two rooms in technology. One is the outside tablet that captured the photo of the American citizen upon his arrival,” said CBP executive director Matthew Davies. “There are two results. You can see on this tablet, a person is biometric checked by this tablet in which he says thank you verified.”

The passenger can walk.

“If they have not been verified biometricically, they will see a screen which indicates that the officer in which the officer has the possibility of asking them questions to confirm his identity to confirm any risk or threat admitting them to the United States,” said Davies.

The source: Alex Boyer de Fox 4 visited DFW airport for a demonstration of the new technology and to collect details for this story.
