Austin, Texas – Recovery efforts are underway in a historic East Austin baseball field which was damaged by the storms that crossed the region at the end of May.
The background:
Delwood Sports Complex says that canoes and stands on its baseball field, which has existed since 1956, have been damaged.
The winds torn off a roof and threw it into another field and the fences were torn.
Teams of volunteers have gathered, as well as the help of local foundations, to clean the park.
What they say:
“We are on a tight chronology. I mean that we are moving to play baseball in the fall. We have stars practices at the moment. So we have a lot in Delwood and you know that we get the playable and safe fields is our absolute priority and we hope to do this as quickly as possible,” said Ross Pry, co -president of Delwood.
What is the next step:
Some fields are already playable.
The organizers say they work to adjust the hours of practice and that the city has backup fields available if necessary.
What you can do:
Delwood Sports asks the public for donations to help repairs.
