California’s state prison, the County of Los Angeles (Lake) organized a day of sports, mentoring and community Friday, May 16.
Between the lines and Fox Sports 1 (FS1), visited Lake Lac in Lancaster to offer a special basketball event.
Among the guests, there was:
- The legend of the NFL Keshawn Johnson
- The NBA veteran 18 years old Trevor Ariza
- And the triple champion of the NBA and former Los Angeles Laker Danny Green.
Between the lines is a non -profit organization founded in 2017 dedicated to the reduction of recurrence by providing mentoring, educational programming and sports as a form of therapy and personal development. This marked the organization’s second visit to Lac.
The highlight of the day was a competitive basketball match between the establishment of a team and between line players, with Green as a key contributor. The game was a revenge match of their previous meeting, between the lines, loudly bordering another victory in a lively and hard battle.
The court was filled with energy because a live DJ kept the beats and spirits during the event. While the dashboard reflected a victory (64-62) for visitors, the real victory was in the atmosphere of the camaraderie, the respect and hope of the court.
With notable personalities like Johnson and Ariza showing their support and engage with the imprisoned population as well as the staff, the event recalls the transformative power of the human connection and the importance of the second chances.
For those inside the walls of the prison, the game brought a moment of normality, encouragement and inspiration, leaving a lasting impact.
