MISSOULA – After a championship weekend in the west of Montana to conclude the spring of Spring Sports of the 2025 Montana High School Association, the 2026 calendar seems just as busy west of the continental division.
Missoula, who simultaneously welcomed the class B / C athletics competition and the class B / C state tennis tournament last month, will host three spring sports championships in 2026: the state’s / b track competition, the B / C tennis tournament B / C and the AA Class Softball Tournament.
In relation: The after-season winning gains in winter sports down the 2024 but still profitable record
In addition to these three events, which should all take place on May 28 to 30, 2026, western Montana will host the AA state tennis tournament in Kalispell, the class A softball tournament in Hamilton and the state baseball tournament in Butte.
Currently, the State baseball tournament is still planned to present teams from all classes, but, according to the associate director of MHSA, Scott Wilson, the discussion will take place this summer concerning the division of sport in two classes. This could happen next season, which would lead to an AA class state tournament and an A / B class tournament. Up to 14 of the 16 AA class schools in Montana could line up the baseball teams next season, with Bozeman, Gallatin, Great Falls and CMR already ready to add teams and glaciers and Flathead in talks to do it.
Senior, Skyview and West in Billings and Big Sky, Hellgate and Sentinel in Missoula organized first -year programs this year. Butte and Belgrade have had teams since the start of high school baseball three years ago.
Helena and Capital are the only AA class schools which have not expressed their interest in adding secondary baseball.
The sites of the other events of the Spring Sports State championship in 2026 are:
- State of track A / C in Laurel
- B / C Softball condition at Billings
- State B Golf in Billings
- State C Golf in Shelby
The state tennis tournament site has not yet been determined.
The first state events of the 2025-26 school year will be the golf meetings in class A and class A. The State AA competition will take place from October 2 to 3 in Butte, and the State A competition is scheduled from October 3 to 4 in Sidney.
The state cross-country competition is on October 25 in Missoula, and the state volleyball tournament of any class is again for Bozeman. This year’s tournament will take place from November 12 to 14 at the Breeden Fieldhouse Brick on the Montana State University campus. The tournament will start on Wednesday and will end on Friday (as opposed to its typical Thursday, Saturday) format to avoid conflicts with the MSU football match against UC Davis on Saturday, November 15.
The fully classy state -wrap tournament also undergoes another schedule, because it will be held a week later than usual. The tournament, which extended to three days last year, is scheduled for February 19 to 21, 2026 in First Interstate Arena in Billings. The first day should include a full day of action instead of the half-day calendar used last year.
The state swimming competition will return to Great Falls from February 12 to 14, 2026.
The dates and sites of boys and girls’ basketball tournaments 2026 are:
- AA class in Billings, from March 12 to 14
- Class A in Great Falls, from March 12 to 14
- Class B in Bozeman, from March 12 to 14
- Class C in Missoula, from March 11 to 14
The MHSA rotates state basketball tournaments between Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls and Missoula. In 2027, Billings will host class C, class B of Butte, class A of Missoula and the AA class of Bozeman.
