One day after an armed robbery caused a locking to Mount Saint Vincent University and a strong police presenceQuestions are raised to find out if the answer was appropriate.

Around 1 p.m. Thursday, the Halifax regional police, the RCMP and the EHS responded to the occasion reports of a flight to the University Café.

The students were invited to shelter in place while the police arrived on the scene with tactical equipment and drones.

“It did not seem to be the type of thing I imagine happening in the mount,” said student Erika Neufeld.

Neufeld had a friend on the campus at the time and became more and more worried about her security.

“She was leaving so fortunately that she was not taken in all of this, but she said that it looked quite frightening and I was obviously concerned about what could happen,” she said.

Halifax regional police defend the extent of the response.

“It is always good and appropriate to be frank, just in case, right?” Always good. Security first. Do not forget, security always first, we can always withdraw and that is exactly what happened yesterday, “said Const. Paul Desrochers.

“Whenever the police have received information on any incident that can involve weapons, we are not sure, we will make the appropriate response compared to such an incident.”
