Amazon And Stelllantis would have finished ending their agreement which was aimed at adding the technology in the car of the technology giant to vehicles of the car manufacturer.

The joint project, nicknamed Stellantis Smartcockpit, was announced in 2022, Reuters reported Wednesday, May 28.

The companies told Reuters that the decision to end their collaboration on the project was mutual.

“Stellantis remains a precious partner for Amazon, and companies continue to work together on a range of initiatives,” they said in a statement, according to the report.

The SmartCockPit project aimed to transform the driving experience with sophisticated vehicle software that would detect the driver and personalize the thermostat, navigation and other parameters, depending on the report.

Stellantis hoped that the software would help compete with companies like TeslaWhile Amazon also sought to extend its offers to other car manufacturers, according to the report.

The report did not quote the reason for change, but said that Stellantis is confronted with the challenge of implementing software on 14 brands and that other traditional car manufacturers have also struggled to add sophisticated software.

Companies have told Reuters that the end of their partnership “will allow each team to focus on solutions that bring value to our common customers and better align with our evolving strategies.”

When Amazon and Stellantis announced their agreement in January 2022, they said they would collaborate to implement Amazon technology and software know-how through Stellantis, including vehicle development, construction Connected experiences in vehicles And train the next generation of automotive software engineers.

Stellantis recently announced other projects related to software.

The automaker announced in February that it launched Stla Autodrive, a Automated driving System that allows automated driving at speeds up to 37 mph.

With this system, drivers will be informed that Stla Autodrive is available “when traffic and environmental conditions align”. Once activated, the system takes over, keeping safe distances, adjusting speed and managing steering and braking as a function of traffic flow.

Also in February, Stellantis and Mistral ai expanded their partnership to include an artificial intelligence fed car assistant as well as other AI -focused projects on which they have been working together for a year.

With the car assistant fed by AI, companies aim to create a “real -time vocal user manual” that will answer questions about vehicle functionality, troubleshooting or warning indicators.
