This test as told is based on a conversation with Ellie Doyle. It was published for duration and clarity.

I was Born and raised in MiamiBut I don’t want to raise my children in Florida. This is particularly true since the pandemic. This is where I have the impression that Florida has gone really crazy. My condition was well known not to apply COVVI-19 precautions. My sister was in renal failure and I gave him my kidney, so we had to be very careful. It was really dangerous and scary to live in Florida, so much so that we temporarily moved in South Carolina. I also saw a change towards a more conservative policy, displayed more aggressively.

This is why my husband and I move our 5 year old daughter and the 1 year old twins From Florida to Connecticut. Here are the reasons why we decided to make this movement before our older ones start in kindergarten in the fall.

I want better schools for my children

Miami schools I was not great when I crossed them, and now I have much more concerns about schools in Florida, especially in St. Augustine, where we live. When we watched the schools in Florida, I noticed that certain library shelves were naked. It was a poignant visual representation of policies such as the ban on books.

There are also tons of financing cuts in Florida. My nephew is gifted program Recently finished, and a friend had to remove her autistic daughter from school because she did not have the resources she needed. I want my children to be in a neighborhood where they are supported, whatever their needs.

The school we visited in Connecticut had a brilliant decoration, a new playground and a wrapped library. I would see these things in a private school in Florida, but in Connecticut, my children will get them without schooling of $ 30,000.

I am concerned about security

Firearms are a huge concern in Florida, where there is even a law that teachers can carry in schools. When we questioned about this At the Connecticut school, the woman giving us a tour looked at us as if we were crazy.

My sister taught in primary school in Florida and was really traumatized by the fact that schools showed real evacuation videos for children after shooting. I don’t want my children to watch children go through a building with the police everywhere.

I am not already coming to my daughter to go to my house because I know there are rifles in her house. In Connecticut, I always plan to ask new friends on firearm security, but I have the impression that it will be an easier conversation to approach.

I want religion to be less part of everyday life

Where we live in Florida, everything, from daycare to the local fair, is organized by churches. It’s good for religious people, but we are not, so I don’t want religious stories in the daily experiences of my children. Here, everything seems, in a diverted way, guided by religion.

Connecticut was much hotter and open to me. I loved seeing diversity in the future school of my daughter. In Florida, she has never had a black or Hispanic classmate, and as a Hispanic mom, I think it is really important to me that she sees a range of cultures.

I think my children will have more choice in Connecticut

Nowhere is perfect. People are quick to highlight problems with Connecticut, such as high taxes or the fact that the Sandy Hook School Tir Arrived here. Personally, I am sad to be further from my family. I know my parents will miss the children so much.

However, Connecticut is the best choice for our family at the moment. I can’t wait for the children to live four seasons, but I am even more excited for them to have an education and quality choices, no matter who they grow.
