Residents must get involved to protect our lifestyle in the villages

One of my objectives as a defender of residents is to create a competent group of diversified and qualified candidates for resident councils and committees which include the governance process of villages from all points of view, are focused on residents and have committed to increase the level of professionalism of elected advice and villages.

There is currently no resident forum like this in the villages.

I have argued for years to support residents against the occasional but increasing program, such as the opposition to the proposed apartments of four floors resulting from the Demolition of Hacienda hillsAnd I succeeded Negotiate for 25 villas.

In the past 18 months, I have largely sought the process of governance of villages. I have the author of a full article and I provided presentations to the requests of residents. The main emphasis was on the current issues with the Committee of Authorities of Approval (AAC), which should be a board of directors focused on residents. The AAC Board of Directors Develops positively as the skills of the members of the board of directors and the ethics focused on residents are improving. Progress has been made in this area; However, a lot of work must still be done.

As a recent supervisor of the board of directors of CDD1 (I resigned to become a full -time defender),, I understand the different skills and skills that benefit residents in this role. Currently, there are no specific selection profiles or criteria, which, I hope, will change to strengthen the professionalism and capacity of the CDD to make informed fiduciary decisions on behalf of the residents.

The role, based on the work of CDD supervisors, benefits from the following skills: municipal management, civil engineering, construction, contract management, accounting, law, public speaking, research, project management and, of course, in -depth reading and understanding.

Since the acquisition of all these skills in one or two individuals is impossible, the advice benefits from five members. However, without a skills or skills portfolio, there is no way to manage specific skills loss. Hopefully this will change.

The next criterion is the need for people focused on residents wishing to protect our lifestyle when the agenda of the developer threatens to modify, reduce or delete a promised feature. For many, this declaration may not make sense or seem unfair; However, our unique process of village governance sometimes favors the agenda of the developer on that of residents. Given that district staff are indirectly hired by the developer, we need members of the board of directors focused on residents who include the process, can manage the very technical requirements of the board of directors and recognize when the agenda changes, which is not always obvious.

The lifestyle of villages is marketed as a promise to realize your dreams. What is not transparent in marketing is that the lifestyle of villages consists of different life owners who own, manage and control lifestyle equipment.

The equipment belonging to the developers include squares, championship golf courses, country clubs with priority pools and various places of arts of the show, excluding Savannah Center, managed by AAC. Residents, CDD advice or committees have no say in equipment belonging to developers. North of 466, residents have their equipment, such as executive golf courses, leisure centers and swimming pools. They have the AAC, which holds the trustee and operational authority to manage these amenities. Unfortunately, in the southern area of 466, the amenities are held and managed by expanding commercial districts, such as the Sumter Landing Community Development District (SLCDD), with advice from the Advisory Committee of the Project, which lacks authority.

CDD 1 is a highly functional positive card led by an excellent chair in Rocky Hyder. Due to my resignation, there is currently a vacant position on the board of directors, and I hope it will be fulfilled quickly by a highly qualified replacement with legal skills and CPA.

Based on the current composition of the CDD 1 card, the next gap of skills planned, in my opinion, is under construction and in civil engineering. So these are the forces that I currently highlight for this specific recruitment.

I foresee that the next vacancy at CDD 1 will result in a loss of essential technical skills in construction and civil engineering. It may seem inappropriate to discuss this before a council supervisor resigned; However, this has led to a candidacy process motivated by district staff, who not currently have the capacity to seek specific skills. This is why and how we end up with advice that is not prepared to represent ourselves adequately.

If you live in CDD 1 And even a small curiosity to serve as a member of the board of directors of CDD1 or a potential AAC candidate for CDD1, do not hesitate to contact me.

Although CDD 1 is my current objective, if you are interested in pursuing a future post in another CDD or on a CDD committee, such as AAC, I encourage you to get involved and contact me, Patsy Oburn. I can provide information on the governance process, the request procedure and what to expect.

My efforts are not intended to replace the excellent resident educational offers from the villages, such as the Resident Academy, which offers a Downloadable manual This presents the villages to you. But to improve your understanding of the rest of the story, the villages do not deal with this. I recommend that all residents continue as many places of education and information as possible to help understanding and so that you can make informed decisions in the lifestyle of retirement. This includes membership with the Association of ownerswhich is focused on the resident, and the The owners of the Village House defendS, which is more developers. Both provide useful information and interesting programs.

I build a team and we aim to improve our knowledge and our understanding of the villages governance process while filling in a resident lifestyle lake and ensuring that we recruit and develop future candidates for the board of directors and the committee.

Under construction: I thought I would relaunch the banner of the villages promised Watch (V2PW); However, I want to mark something that speaks more to a community helping advocacy, so I test this name and this concept: Community awareness and mentoring, promotion of advocacy, support and strategies (COMPASS). We help the neighbors to sail on how to ensure an affordable lifestyle thanks to education, mentoring and strategies for solving common but creative meaning. I am interested in your thoughts, please send me an email.

Please share this invitation / request with anyone who seems to convince and / or interested. In addition, if you want to join my broadcast list, please send me your contact details, including your village.
