Washington, DC – Gallup’s monthly indicators on how Americans consider the country’s key aspects were largely stable in May. This includes the employment ratings for President Donald Trump and the Congress, the US economy assessments, satisfaction with the country’s orientation and the perceptions of the most important problem with which the nation is confronted.
Forty-three percent of Americans approve how Trump manages his work, essentially unchanged from his notes in March and April after having slipped his highest level of 47% at the end of January.

Americans retain a low vision of the economy in May when questioned directly on this subject. Only 23%characterize current economic conditions as “excellent” or “good”, while the others are divided between calling them “only just” (38%) or “poor” (37%). Composing this negative perspective, the majority perceive that economic conditions get worse (58%) rather than better (37%).
The economic confidence of Gallup, which is a summary of positive net feelings on the two measures – perceptions of the current economy and its trajectory – is now -18, on a scale of -100 to +100.
