Walmart – the country’s largest private employer – Cut more than 1,000 corporate jobs while the company tries to reduce its expenses and rationalize decision -making as a pressure of pricing frames.
The CEO of Walmart US, John Furner and the World Technology Director of Walmart, Suresh Kumar, told employees in a service note on Wednesday that the company re -shaped certain teams from its world technological organizations and American Walmart where it found “opportunities to remove diapers and complexity, to accelerate decision -making and help the partners to innovate”.

“The world of technology is evolving at an unprecedented rate, and the reshaping of our structure allows us to accelerate the way we deliver and we adapt to the changing environment around us,” wrote the leaders in the memo.

In the United States, cuts are specifically “mainly focused on driving efficiency” within end-to-end operating teams and evolving the structure of its Walmart Connect marketing organization for long-term viability.

This comes when managers of the retail industry, including at Walmart, warned the impact of prices on the sector, even by meeting the president Donald Trump Earlier this year.
The retailer, which economists use as a gauge to understand the health of consumers, said solid profits from the first quarter, but warned that the price increases were imminent given the scale of the samples placed on imported goods.

Even if Trump earlier this month reduced the rights imposed on Chinese imports, the CEO of Walmart, Doug McMillon, said that the company could not “absorb all the pressure given the reality of narrow retail margins”.
The comment triggered Trump’s backlash, who posted on Truth Social that the retailer should “eat the prices”.

Later, secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent said Walmart has agreed to absorb some of the prices while certain costs will be transmitted to consumers.

Almost two thirds of Walmart American expenses go to the products manufactured, assembled or cultivated at the national level, but the remaining third comes from around the world, with China and Mexico be the greatest contributors.
