Small Business Administration Awards SRS Contractor for Excellence in Services

AIKEN, SC – Small Business Administration of the United States (SBA) recently honored a Savannah river site entrepreneur with the prestigious 2025 Dwight D. Eisenhower Award for Excellence in Services For its small businesses programs.

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) received the prize during the SBA National Small Business Week Ceremony in Washington, DC

“This Dwight D. Eisenhower prize represents the highest distinction for an entrepreneur as a defender of small businesses,” said Jay Johnson, main vice-president of SRNS trade services and director of contract workers. “I am so proud of the supply team in management of the SRNS supply chain for their intentional actions to take full advantage of the capacity and expertise of our small businesses.”

Since 2018, subcontracts of small SRNS companies to obtain the materials and services of the site have created 15,700 local jobs and 82,800 regional positions.

Over the past five years, SRNS has spent $ 2.6 billion in subcontractors with small businesses, which represents 66% of its subcontractors. During the financial year (exercise) only 2024, the SRNs set a record of $ 798 million in subcontractors with small local, regional and national businesses.

In addition, SRNS continues to help small businesses navigate in the contract allocating to ensure that they are taken into account for subcontracting opportunities supporting the American energy department Environmental management office and the National Nuclear Security Administration.

“We are committed to working with small businesses and helping small businesses, and we are proud of the opportunities made available to work with SRNS,” said Lisa Tanner, head of the SRNS small businesses. “SRNS performs a small business approach for purchases, some buyers granted more than 93% of work, during a given month, to small businesses.”

Notable contributions from the SRNS Small Business Program:

  • Increase in the commitment of small businesses by participating in 21 supplier awareness events during fiscal year;
  • Increased the number of small businesses registered in Doe Mentor-Progégé programGlobal investment from $ 400,000 to $ 41 million since 2015;
  • Implemented a supplier portal to promote a diversified supplier base and ensure accession to relevant regulations; And
  • Has maintained a supplier database that SRNS buyers use as a supply tool.
