As summer approaches, Airbnb again deploys anti-partner technology in the United States for the Memorial Day and on July 4 to promote responsible and safe stays. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Airbnb has implemented these defenses to block certain reservations during this vacation in order to reduce the risk of disruptive parts, which are forbidden on our platform.
Although the incidents of disruptive parts on Airbnb are rare, we are committed to working to reduce the risk and help hosts promote positive experiences in their homes and local neighborhoods.
Our anti-party technology is designed to help identify and prevent certain attempts to reserve stays for one to two nights in lists of whole houses that could be a higher risk for a disruptive part. The system examines a range of factors – including the type of list reserved, the length of the stay, the distance to the guest’s main location list and if the reservation is at the last minute – to determine if a reservation must be blocked. Customers who are prevented from booking an entire house will rather have the possibility of reserving alternative accommodation on Airbnb.
Last year, these defenses saw around 51,000 people through the United States dissuade from reserving a full list of the house on the platform for the two summer vacation weekends. This included around 7,750 people in Texas, 7,400 people in Florida and 7030 people in California.
This technology is part of a wider set of tools and policies that Airbnb is deploying to promote responsible trips and help hosts save their spaces, especially during moments when demand is higher and the disturbance potential can increase. These measures continued to help hosts protect their house and mind from neighbors.
Our increased anti-partner holiday system works in tandem with our global Reservation screening Technology, which is active all year round and operates automatic learning to try to identify and dissuade higher risk reservations in the United States and worldwide. Since 2020, when we have introduced our global parties to ban parties, we have found a drop of more than 50% in the rate of reporting in the United States. In 2024, less than approximately 0.06% of Airbnb reserves in the United States led to a party report.
Our other measures and resources to support guests, guests and local communities and responsible travel and accommodation include:
- Tips for hosts on the prevention of the parties in their list
- OUR Neighborhood support line For local communities to report to us directly urgent problems, such as a current party in a house which, according to them, is listed on Airbnb
- A 24 hour Safety line So that hosts and guests directly reach our security team for support
- A Free noise sensor for hostswhich can help to get ahead of problems before starting while respecting customers’ confidentiality
- Support for the police thanks to a channel And a specialized response team, in the rare case of a number that potentially involves an Airbnb list or stay.
