US President Donald Trump said on Friday that Iran had an American proposal for his nuclear program advanced quickly while negotiations between the two countries are continuing.
Trump’s remarks represent the first time that he recognizes that an American proposal is with Tehran after several cycles of negotiations between the American envoy of the Middle East Steve Witkoff and the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi.
Negotiations have entered the “expert” level – which means that the two parties are trying to see if they can reach an agreement on the details of any possible agreement. But a major point of snack remains the enrichment of uranium by Iran, which Tehran insists on the fact that it must be authorized to do and the Trump administration insists more and more on the Islamic Republic must abandon.
Trump discusses the proposal on Air Force One
Trump made the comment on the Air Force One when he ended his trip to the United Arab Emirates, the last stop on his tour of three Middle East countries which also included Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Almost all the events he attended in the region, he insisted that Iran could not be authorized to obtain a nuclear bomb – something that the American intelligence agencies evaluate that Tehran does not continue that his program is about to be able to arm.

Did a journalist ask Trump: “In Iran, did the United States give them an official proposal? Steve Witkoff did this?”
“They have a proposal,” replied Trump. “But above all, they know that they have to move quickly, or something bad will happen.”

Trump did not develop the substance of the proposal and Iran did not immediately recognize having it. ARAGHCHI was spent on Thursday with journalists from the Tehran International Book Fair and said Iran had not yet had a proposal from the Americans.
Araghchi also criticized what he called contradictory and inconsistent statements of the Trump administration, describing them as a sign of disarray in Washington or a calculated negotiation strategy. At one point, Witkoff suggested that Iran could enrich uranium at 3.67%, then began to say that all Iranian enrichment must stop.
“We hear many contradictory statements from the United States – Washington, the President and the new administration,” said Araghchi. “Sometimes we hear two or three different positions in a single day.”
Discussions took place in Oman and Rome
Iranian and American officials were in Oman and Rome for negotiations, still publicized by Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr al-Busaidi, a trust interlocutor between the two nations. The talks seek to limit Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of some of the overwhelming economic sanctions that the United States has imposed on the Islamic Republic, approaching half a century of enmity.
Trump has repeatedly threatened to trigger air strikes targeting Iran’s program if an agreement is not concluded. Iranian officials are increasingly warning that they could pursue a nuclear weapon with their stock of uranium enriched at levels close to the quality of weapons. Meanwhile, Israel has threatened to strike Iranian nuclear installations by themselves if she feels threatened, further complicating tensions in the Middle East already doped by the War of Israel-Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
