The evacuation orders remain in place for the rural municipality of Lac du Bonnet while the crews continue to fight forest fires in eastern Manitoba.
While recent precipitation has helped, officials say that the local state of emergency remains in place in the community where a fire destroyed 28 houses and chalets and left two dead earlier this week.

Local officials have published an update on social media saying that they hoped to be able to start planning a return to the evacuated areas on Saturday.
But officials add that the start of the school year has not yet been recommended by the province’s forest service.
Lac du Bonnet Urgery Management says that the recommendation will only come when the fire is under control and that residents’ safety can be ensured.
On Friday, about 20 other fires burned in Manitoba, which encouraged the province to close certain national parks.
