The mayor of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie, approves 5 other “entertainment zones” through the city

The mayor of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie, signed legislation on Friday by creating additional “entertainment zones” throughout the city for special outdoor events aimed at revitalizing neighborhoods and helping small businesses.

According to the mayor’s office, the new areas are established in several districts. The locations include:

• Street Valencia between the 16 and 21st streets
• At the pier 39
• Ellis Street between Stockton and Powell streets
• Folsom Street between the 7 and 8th streets
• Yerba Buena Lane between market and mission streets, and Jessie Square

Entertainment areas allow special events where local bars and restaurants can sell alcoholic drinks. The areas were allowed Following the adoption of the Senate bill 76 by the Senator of the Scott Wiener State (D-SAN Francisco).

Lurie announced approvals the same day as the Castro’s upper market entertainment area is launched. Last month, Supervisors unanimously approved the area In the Castro district covering Market Street between Collingwood and 14th Streets, as well as Castro Street and 19th Street stretch.

“The entertainment areas bring joy and life to our blocks by blocks, and I am delighted to launch the Castro upper market area and create five other entertainment areas, supporting local affairs while bringing neighborhoods to the neighborhoods of our city,” said Lurie in a press release. “Together, we build a community, support local businesses and give our neighborhoods the boost they need.”

Lurie said that with the latest additions, 21 entertainment areas are adopted or awaiting San Francisco.

The city’s first entertainment area was designated on Front Street between the streets of California and Sacramento in the city’s financial district and organized its first events last year. According to the mayor’s office, events such as Oktoberfest at the front,, Nightmare on Front Street And Glow SF attracted more than 21,000 participants and participating companies have increased income increases up to 1,500%.

Other entertainment areas have been created at Thrive City Outside Chase Center, Harlan Place and Mark Lane near Union Square and Cole Valley.
