While the Richmond GRC’s grave crime section investigates a scandal of gift cards at the Town Hall, questions are raised on the reasons why the differences have not been discovered.
Police were called after Global News presentation of hundreds of thousands of dollars in financial irregularities.
The city says that it could not reconcile $ 295,000 in cards purchased in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
KPMG has audited the city’s financial statements. The city of Richmond defends the use of the same company for the medical-legal audit, saying: “It is carried out by KPMG Forensic Inc., an independent branch of its audit of audit.”

The deputy and the prosecutor general of Richmond, the critic, Steve Kooner, said: “We must arrive at the bottom of this and we must discover exactly who was involved, we must find out who signed all this program and all these different game cards, we need this level of responsibility, we need answers.”
Richmond previously said that most of the cards were for service prices, retirement or recognition of volunteers.
