Given this new reality, integration – both in all disease of illness and in broader health and development efforts – has never been more urgent. |

The purpose of Reunion is to share the progress and celebrate the successes of the MNT elimination stages, to share examples of cross-border collaboration, to celebrate the approval of cross-border agreements and a call for action that will inspire and improve cross-border and multi-maladies collaboration to accelerate progress towards the global objectives of elimination of disease. The Ministers of Health of Chad, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda will sign a memorandum of understanding to end the VL in Africa. The event will highlight the importance of the country’s ownership and strategies to achieve NTD’s public health objective and to mitigate the risk of losing the gains made in recent decades, highlighting the opportunity to implement the proposed resolution on skin diseases at WHA78. A signature of a memorandum of understanding for visceral leishmaniasis in the countries of East Africa will take place during the ceremony. |
