Prime minister Mark Carney revealed his Cabinet of 28 members on TuesdayWith a mixture of familiar characters and new faces from across the country.

Quebec is strongly present in the new cabinet, with seven ministers from the province – a region where the The liberals obtained 44 of the 78 seats in the April elections.

Here is an overview of the seven ministers of the ministers of Quebecas well as two of the 10 secretaries of state who also represent the province.

Champagne François-Philippe,, Minister of Finance and National Revenues (return member of the cabinet)

The deputy of Saint -Maurice – Champlain in Quebec, he was appointed in the finance portfolio just before the elections call. He has been used in Justin Trudeau’s office since 2017, notably as Minister of Industry and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec regions (member of the Cabinet)

The deputy for Ahuntsic-Cartierville in Quebec since 2015, Joly has also served in the cabinet in the last decade. A lawyer by trade, Joly has served in the past four years as one of the main faces of Canada on the world as a Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Identity and Canadian Culture and Minister responsible for official languages, Minister responsible for nature, biodiversity and Canada Parks (return member of the cabinet)


The MP for the Montreal Montreal of Laurier – Sainte -Marie, Guilbeault has been a long -standing environmental activist who has served in the past four years as Trudeau Minister of the Environment. Carney moved him away from this role in March, while Carney was quickly moving to end the unpopular carbon pricing system that Guilbeault supervised.

Steven Mackinnon, head of government in the House of Commons (return member of the cabinet)

The deputy of Gatineau in Quebec, Mackinnon briefly embarrassed the role of head of the Chamber in 2024 and 2025. He was the whip of the government for several years before being appointed to the cabinet in January 2024. He held a variety of other portfolios, mainly linked to work and jobs.

Mandy Gull-Masty, Minister of Indigenous Services (new member of the cabinet)

Elected for the first time to represent northern Quebec from Abitibi – Baue -James – Nunavik – Eeyou, Gull Masty is the first Aboriginal to lead Aboriginal services Canada. Before presenting herself in the last elections, she was the first female head of the Grand Council of Crees in Quebec.

Marjorie Michel, Minister of Health (new member of the cabinet)

The new deputy for Papineau in Quebec, Michel previously carried out electoral campaigns for the Liberals and was chief of the deputy staff of Trudeau before succeeding him as a deputy for Papineau.

Joël Lightbound, Minister of Government Transition, Public Works and Purchases (new member of the Cabinet)

The deputy of Louis-Hébert in Quebec, Lighbound was formerly the president of the Caucus of the Party of the Party of the Party, but resigned after having spoke in 2022 to criticize the treatment by the liberal government of the pandemic of Covid-19.

Nathalie Provost, Secretary of State for Nature

Provost, the first deputy for the conduct in Quebec in Châteauguay-Les Jardins-de-Napierville, is an engineer by trade and is a survivor of the shooting of the 1989 polytechnic school, after which she became defender of firearms control.

Anna Gainey, secretary of state for children and young people

Elected first in a by-election in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce in Montreal-Westmount Riding in 2023, Gainey is the former president of the Liberal Party of Canada. Her husband, Tom Pitfield, is Carney’s main secretary. She is the daughter of the former Montreal Canadiens player and Managing Director Bob Gainey.
