The fire of the Silverlynn apartments in the 1300 block of the 27th street generated a massive plume of smoke which could be seen from the whole region.
The fire was so intense that it pulled more than 60 firefighters and “each device” from the three fire services from the North Shore, district of the district of the district of the district North fire of Vancouver Chef Mike Danks told journalists.
Fortunately, he said, all residents were recorded.
“They are all sure to our knowledge, so this is a very positive news for us,” he said.
Ten people had to be saved from their balconies and five people were treated in total – two of them sent to the hospital in a stable state. Danks said he didn’t know what their injuries were, but thought they were minor.
“This fire was incredibly intense. A good indication is when you enter a fire and your ears burn? It’s too hot to be there,” said Danks.
“They continued to fight the fire until he arrived at a point where he became too extreme, there was an explosion, Windows exploded, at that time, the crews had to withdraw.”

The same apartment complex was the site of Another serious fire in May 2022 This claimed a life and moved 70 residents.
Danks said that around half of the building was still renovating this previous fire, and that the construction area is the place where the fire would have started.
“They did everything they could to remove this fire as quickly as possible, but when a building is under construction, it is very difficult to do it when you do not have dry partitions that stop the spread of fire,” he said.
Photos of a RCB drone revealed that one of the wings of the complex was practically emptied.

Danks added that the building had undergone “significant damage”.
“The part that has been renovated is completely collapsed at this stage. The new residence in which people are now, there are units that have not been affected by the flame but they are affected by the damage caused by water and by the damage caused by smoke,” he said.
“It’s not a good day for these residents.”
About 100 people normally live in the building, but Danks said there were fewer occupants due to renovations.
Residents of the adjacent Craftman domains have also been evacuated from their homes due to heavy smoke.
In an article on Facebook, the mayor of the North Vancouver district, Mike Little, said that the municipal services were fully activated and took care of the residents evacuated.
“We are expecting a complete assessment on the state of residents because many people have been dispersed when the crews have arrived and full accounting of people has not yet been finished,” said Little.
“It will take hours for the fire to be completely out, please give the crews a lot of space to work.”

An emergency reception center for displaced residents was installed at the Baptiste Westlynn church at 1341 27th St.
Metro Vancouver said he was monitoring air quality as a result of the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under study.
