Country music star Johnny Rodriguez, a popular American singer Mexican, better known for her successes in the 1970s, including “I can’t get her out of my mind”, “Ridin ‘My Thumb to Mexico” and “That’s the Way Love Goes”, is dead. He was 73 years old.

Rodriguez died on Friday, according to social media statements published by his daughter, Aubry Rodriguez. She said he had died peacefully and surrounded by family.

“Papa was not only a legendary musician whose artistic talent touched millions around the world, but also a husband, a father, an uncle and a deeply loved brother whose warmth, humor and compassion shaped the lives of all those who knew him,” she wrote.

Rodriguez was appointed the most promising male singer of the 1972 country music academics, and his first album, “Presentation of Johnny Rodriguez”, obtained a nomination for the album of the year in 1973.

Rodriguez was born in Sabinal, Texas, a small town about 60 miles west of San Antonio and about 90 miles east of the American-Mexican border. He was enthroned in Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007.
