Very Belvoir, VA (May 2025) – While the US military continues to improve its support and construction resources along the southern border, the Ministry of Defense (DOD) warned members of the increase in the armament of non -transmitted air systems (UAS) and surveillance along the American -mexic border by the members of the cartel.

The emergence of UAS threats and the unrelated system (UXS) made that the DOD and the army quickly innovate through a tactical and technical spectrum of operations.

In support of this priority, command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and recognition (C5ISR) of command, cyber, information, surveillance and recognition (C5ISR) joined forces with the 10th mountain division, offering advanced technology and technical expertise to support the division with border operations.

C5ISR Center scientists and engineers have developed an architecture against UAS designed to reduce the number of fighters like the damage to the battlefield and on an unknown land. The new platform takes advantage of a family of systems and sensors belonging to the government developed by the government which has the adaptability and the ability to support several C-UAS variants, all integrated into a single vehicle platform.

“Architecture allows the army to quickly integrate the technology of sensors of the best angels of each of our detection methods to stay ahead of a constantly evolving threat – through large and small businesses, non -traditional entrepreneurs, university universities and defense research and development laboratories.”

The C5ISR center began to develop a C-UAS system in 2018 in order to provide technology capable of detecting the characteristics of what makes a drone a drone. From the data collected, the team built a specific technology around these data points to have a high probability of detection and low alarms of false alarms.

“The development of technologies that limits the number of soldiers in the manner of damage is essential to all army missions, in particular C-UAS,” said Dr. Brandon Dodd, C5isr Center, C-Uas Production Team. “In recent years, the UAS threat has increased considerably, which has motivated the innovative approaches to the C-UAS, to which DOD research centers have done a good job to respond.”

To respond to the threat, C5ISR Center leaders have planned the organization’s need for a modular solution. “We have to take advantage of modular open architecture belonging to the government to allow a short -term and continuous transition of science and technology as technology matures to respond to evolving and rapidly evolving emerging threats,” said Dodd. “The modularity will allow rapid implementation of the extended range, lower costs and lower collateral defeat solutions.”

According to the director of the C5ISR Center, Beth Ferry, the magnitude of the current threat requires a team of teams. “No service, center or company can resolve this (UXS threat) by themselves. We need an integrated integration approach,” said Ferry. “The C5ISR Center synchronizes through Devcom (US Army Combat Capacacies Development Command), the American army, the DOD, other government agencies, the industry, the academic world and other stakeholders to guarantee the alignment of efforts.”

As C-Uas technology matures, its adaptability and its ability to use artificial intelligence and automatic learning technologies have become important, said Newmeyer. “The use of AI and ML quickly provided users with critical information, which allows them to make informed decisions.

“Software belonging to the government in our C-UAS technology has been developed to integrate all independent sensors in a way that reduces the user’s cognitive load to accelerate decision-making at the speed of the machine from human speed,” Dodd said.

By design, the integration of technologies in a single vehicle gives the current C-Uas platform an additional advantage.

“The advantage comes from the possibility of quickly deploying the system where it is most necessary and to settle quickly,” said Dodd, “allowing teams to use the system on missions rather than having only this level of protection limited to installations.”

With the adaptability of technology, commanders can configure the system to work in a way that maximizes the objectives of each organization.

“Based on the flexibility of integrated software, our C -UAS technology can be implemented differently at each level of the army – based on needs at each level,” said Dodd. “This implementation would lead to a common reference of C-Uas throughout the army which would still allow the coordination of air defense of all levels.”

With cartels threatening to deploy armed UAS, it is essential to obtain C-Uas tested in combat in the hands of formed operators.

“One of the main objectives of our C-UAS program is to make decisions at the speed of the machine by taking advantage of artificial intelligence and automatic learning capacities,” said Newmeyer. “Consequently, the training is designed to be minimal.
