US President Donald Trump Called Thursday for an unconditional 30-day ceasefire between Russia And Ukrainewarning that Washington and its partners would impose other sanctions if the ceasefire is not respected.
Ukraine expressed its desire to accept an American proposal to adopt an immediate 30-day cease-fire, while Russia only proposed three-day cease-fire to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War on Thursday.
Trump said in an article on social networks: “If the ceasefire (30 days) is not respected, the United States and its partners will impose other sanctions.”
“I hope that an acceptable cease-fire will be observed, and the two countries will be responsible for respecting the sacred nature of these direct negotiations,” said Trump.
“This ceasefire must finally rely on a peace agreement.
Trump said he wanted to finish the war in Ukraine, but that his administration also threatened to abandon his attempts to negotiate an agreement if Russia and Ukraine are not progressing.
US vice-president JD Vance said this week that Russia “asked too much” with its initial peace offer and that the Kremlin had communicated a 30-day ceasefire “is not in our strategic interests (from Russia)”.

“We obviously want Ukraine to remain a sovereign country, but Russia cannot expect to receive a territory that they have not even won yet, and this is one of the things they presented in this initial peace plan,” said JD Vance in an interview Thursday on Fox News.
