The explanation of the pierced gravity is one more step of “theory of everything”: Scienceatt

A new way of explaining gravity could bring us closer to the resolution of irresolvable differences so far with quantum mechanics.

Physicists Mikko Parten and Jukka Tulkki at Aalto University in Finland have designed a new way of thinking about the gravity which, according to them, is compatible with the Standard model of particle physics, the theory describing the other three fundamental forces of the universe – strong, weak and electromagnetic.

It is not quite a theory of quantum gravity … but it could help us get there.

“If this turns out to be led to a complete theory of the quantum field of gravity, then he will eventually give answers to the very difficult problems of understanding the singularities in black holes and the Big Bang“” Partyn says.

“A theory that describes all fundamental in a coherent way nature forces is often called the theory of everything. Some fundamental questions of physics remain unanswered. For example, current theories do not yet explain why there is more material than antimatter in the observable universe. “”

Gravity is really the thorn in the side of a beautiful and careful explanation of the behavior of the universe. It is the fourth weakest and weakest force, but does not play well with the other three. Quantum theory describes how the physical universe behaves on really small – atomic and subatomic scales – but that does not work with the large -scale universe, where gravity takes over.

Classic physics and general relativity Describe gravity very well, but not the quantum domain. Until now, the two theories have proven to be irresolvable; However, the universe exists quite joyfully with the two, so scientists believe that there must be a way to make them play well.

Because the problem turned out to be so insoluble, however, it is likely that it will not be resolved at the same time, but in incrementally, but important steps. The increasing step that Partenn and Tukki have crossed described the gravity in the context of a gauge – a concept of quantum field theory in which the behavior of particles is described in a specific field.

An electromagnetic field is an example of a gauge. The same goes for a gravitational field.

“The most familiar gauge field is the electromagnetic field. When the electrically charged particles interact with each other, they interact through the electromagnetic field, which is the relevant gauge field”, ” Tulkki explains.

“So when we have particles that have energy, the interactions they simply have because they have energy would occur through the gravitational field.”

THE Standard model is a theory of the gauge that describes strong, weak and electromagnetic forces, and it has specific symmetry. To bring together the theory of the gravity of the standard model, Parten and Tulkki sought to apply these symmetries to a theory of the gravity of the gauge.

Their published results seem promising.

“Our theory brings together the theory of the gauge of the gravity of the theories of the standard model gauge in relation to the theories of the conventional gauge of gravity”. They write in their paper.

It is important to note that the work is very, very far from a theory of quantum gravity. However, it represents an important avenue for the survey which can advance considerably the quest for a solution to this urgent problem in physics.

To this end, the Partanen and Tulkki invite other scientists to participate in the progress of the work. The article goes to a certain point, and the theory works well in this limit, but it will require much more physics and stress tests.

“Complete understanding of the implications of unified gravity on field theories,” Researchers write“It will only be obtained after many additional work.”

The document was published in Relations on progress in physics.
