“This action will weaken conservation efforts through our park system, from the Acadia to Yosemite.” – Kristen Brengel, please from government affairs of the NPCA

Washington, DC – Today, the Trump administration took action To reduce the dozens of subsidies from the National Park Service, including federal funding for water quality research, archaeological surveillance, tribes management and much more. If the national parks lose this research, we will lose precious knowledge that informs responsible management of the park and safeguard our common natural heritage.

Declaration of Kristen Brengel, please from government affairs for the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA):

“The National Park Service has long been a leader in environmental sciences, with in -depth expertise in fields such as water and air quality, erosion control, ecological health, biology and much more.

“These Cuts Threaten to Erode Decades of Scientific Progress and Historic Preservation, Core to What Makes Our National Parks So Meaningful. Canceling Research Grants that support these efforts is more than just a budget decision – it’s a step toow dismantling the knowledge that helps and public health.

###

About the National Parks Conservation Association: Since 1919, the National Parks Conservation Association has been the main voice of the safeguard of our national parks. The NPCA and its more than 1.6 million members and supporters work together to protect and preserve the most emblematic and inspiring places in our country for future generations.
