The former NSF chiefs criticize funding, personnel cuts to the scientific agency

Six former directors of the National Science Foundation have signed a letter of May 3 describing concerns about the policy and changes in the Trump administration endowment to agency, and their impact on the future of scientific research in the United States

We nevertheless make him say – if we really want to carry out this vision, we must engage in a historical investment in basic research and education in a way that leaves no doubt about the intentions of the United States with our international competitors. ”

The letter specifically quotes China as a leading competitor for global technological domination.

“It is essential for the future of America to make the right choice,” concludes the letter. “We are ready to help you and the country, in any way possible.”

The release of the letter comes after the end of the Ministry of Effectiveness of the Trump Administration Government. dozens of staff members And Research subsidies to the scientific agency, and leaders, in particular Director Sethuraman Panchanathan and old Information Director Terry Carpenter announced their departures.
