The number of new confirmed measles cases made a big leap during the weekend, according to the province.
There is now a total of 265 confirmed cases of measles in Alberta – it is an increase of 55 cases since Friday.
The majority of cases are in the southern health zone, which includes the city of Lethbridge and the city of Taber, where Alberta Health has published several public warnings in recent weeks concerning potential exhibitions on measles.

Dr. Sunil Sookram, the acting medical doctor from Alberta, said that there had been no deaths since Alberta began to see cases identified in March, three people are in intensive care.
While the number of measles cases in Alberta continues to jump, the province says that it launches a new vaccination campaign that will include advertising in a variety of formats and languages.
Measles is a highly contagious disease that can be prevented by immunization. There are currently three Albertans in intensive care with the virus.
