WHATCOM COUNTY, WAMyBellinghamNow.com) – The weekend before Christmas is going to be a little gloomy again in Whatcom County. Fortunately, there are many activities you can enjoy indoors. A holiday play, Christmas movies, live music and a wharf market were all featured at this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

The Blaine Performing Arts Center presents Intergalactic Holiday. It’s a supernatural adventure featuring an alien from a distant galaxy who comes to Earth on a mission to find Santa Claus. Apparently, the jolly old man who brings joy to the masses has built quite a reputation across the galaxy.

Intergalactic Holidays will take place on Saturday, December 21 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, December 22 at 1 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door. The Blaine Performing Arts Center is located at 975 H Street. For all the details, go to daytodaydance.com.

If you’re still looking to stock up on Christmas holiday treats, you don’t want to miss the Holiday Dockside Market at Squalicum Harbor in Bellingham. Head over to buy all the best local seafood directly from the local fishing community. There will also be a holiday market, food, craft vendors and a performance by the Bellingham Youth Jazz Band. In addition, Santa’s “Claws” will be there.

The Holiday Dockside Market takes place Saturday, December 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2599 S. Harbor Loop. For full details, visit Quayside Holiday Market Facebook page.

It’s Christmas movie season and local theaters have you covered. The Pickford Film Center airs The Muppet Christmas Carol Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. They will also have two showings of It’s a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve.

Barkley Royal Village also gets festive for the holidays with some $5 shows. Elf plays at 11 a.m. on Saturday and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation plays at 11 a.m. on Sunday. You can also purchase tickets for one of the Royal Ballet performances: The Nutcracker on Sunday and Monday.

If you haven’t already done so, now is your last chance to participate in the Holiday Lights Photo Contest on our website. Upload a festive photo for a chance to win a $60 gift card to Storia Cucina in downtown Bellingham. The competition closes at 10am on Friday December 20.

Our live show this week will be at Shakedown in Bellingham. Sons of Rainier will grace the stage with their brand of Pacific Northwest Americana. If you like folk, blues and bluegrass, this show is for you.

Sons of Rainier plays Lonesome Shack on Friday, December 20 at 9 p.m. Get your tickets at shakedownbellingham.com.
