Grand Island, Neb. (KSNB) – After almost two years without full service cinema, Grand Island once again has a house for high screen entertainment.
The B&B theaters officially opened its location of Grand Island 7 Thursday afternoon, taking up the old AMC site which closed in 2022. The members of the community gathered to celebrate the return of cinema – and more.
“The community has really needed something like that,” said Michael Schmidt, director general of B&B theaters Grand Island 7. “We offer much more than a simple seven screens. We have a big arcade – I think it is the biggest in the B&B Theatre District.”
The recently renovated installation offers a variety of equipment, including an extended arcade and a bowling area, which makes it more than a place to watch films.
Larry and Micah Bird, among the first guests to visit the theater, praised the new place.
“It’s impressive,” said Larry Bird. “Grand Island definitely needs an arcade bowling alley. The arcade area is wonderful – it has games that I have never seen before. ”
For many, the opening marks the end of a long wait for local entertainment.
“In recent years, we had to go to Central City, Kearney or Hastings to see anything,” added Micah Bird. “Giving it here to Grand Island is wonderful. This is what we need. This is what we missed. ”
With practical access and expanded offers, B&B theaters are about to become a central gathering place for the community.
The shows start on Friday at noon with Thunderbolt. The theater will open daily 30 minutes before the first time for a spectacle planned.
