MASSENA – The Nicandri Nature Center de Massena welcomed Dr. Alexander Stewart, geologist and professor at St. Lawrence University, who led an interactive manifestation of the rings for children in the community of northern country during their spring holidays.

The session brought young people passionate about nature face to face with science behind the carotage of trees and dendrochronology, helping them to explore how trees grow, age and respond to their environment.

Dr. Stewart guided them to understand how we read the history of the life of a tree through its rings, linking ecology, climate and geology in an accessible and practical way.

“The Nicandri Nature Center has become a hub for environmental learning and community connection, and this visit has captured the heart of what it represents, arousing curiosity and stewardship in the next generation,” said Krystyna Kowalski, who submitted the photos.
