A fugitive from British Columbia was returned to Canada after an international investigation that lasted three years.

Cody Casey cut his ankle bracelet and fled Canada while he was on deposit in April 2022, according to Vancouver police.

This sparked an investigation that lasted 14 countries.

Casey was arrested in the Middle East on October 5, 2024 by Royal Police of Oman and returned to Canada last week after a six-month extradition process.

“It was a complex and multi-jurisdictional investigation which required extraordinary collaboration and perseverance,” Inspire. Phil heard, commander of the organized crime section of the Vancouver police department, said in a statement.

“We are grateful to our partners across Canada and abroad, including the RCMP, the Bolo program and the Oman Royal Police, for their unshakable support to bring Cody Casey back to justice.”

Casey was appointed the most wanted third person in Canada by the Bolo program, which announced a reward of $ 100,000 for information leading to its arrest.

Police said the investigators worked with agencies in 14 countries and that the investigation finally led to Oman, where Casey was arrested.

“We have a duty to bring the fugitives into justice. There cannot be a refuge for those who try to escape the law,” said Liam Price, director general of the RCMP special special services.

“RCMP federal police are collaborating with Canada Police and around the world to ensure that people who commit serious crimes are responsible.”

Casey was officially returned to Vancouver by VPD officers on April 24. He appeared before the British Columbia Provincial Court and remains in detention.
