Recommendations for plants resistant to deer that thrive in a New York garden: video
“Plant on Thursday, they will always be there on Friday. See which plants on earth living in Pomona recommend for a garden resistant to deer.
Now that May has arrived, the season to plant our annuals with summer flowering is officially underway. This week and next week, go to Mother’s DayIt is when the greenhouse of your favorite garden store will overflow with colorful plants.
This week, I want to share with you my personal selections for the most efficient flowers. These selections do not come from scientific tests as they did at the zoo. Which, by the way, is in fact where the most efficient flowers are selected each year. After having lived in my current house for 24 years, it is those who reached mine and the favorites of my wife.
We have a fairly simple standard, but not always an easy -to -respect standard. Beyond the plantation, we want them to be as little kept as possible. At the same time, we want them to be so colorful that the neighbors ask them. Over the years, they have attracted the most attention.
Lantana
My favorite was an extremely easy choice. It’s Lantana. Lantana is a colorful annual that thrives under the burning sun. I plant it on the west side of the house where it is full sun from the beginning of the afternoon until sunset. In the hottest weeks of summer, I never have to water it more often twice a week.
Lantana is available in a range of bright colors. They flourish in clusters of tiny flowers. Planted in May, they become a solid mass of color by the end of June. They will continue continuously at the end of October. The different varieties develop in different sizes. There are high and shorter varieties. They are great in beds or in containers. You can’t go wrong with Lantana.
Another great feature of Lantana is that it is also incredible to attract pollinators. From what I saw, I don’t know a plant that is better. Our Lantana constantly buzzes with insects.
Bégonia of the Dragon Wing
Our finalist in Lantana would be Dragon Wing Begonia. This variety of Bégonia has a large attractive foliage for which it is named. They are also very colorful, loaded with pink or red flowers. I plant them where I need size. They will push 24 to 36 inches high.
Begonias can be planted in the sun or in the shade. In the sun, it is the most tolerant flowers with drought that I have ever planted. A few years ago, I learned a trick on the Baugonies of the winged leaves and wax that I did not know. You can control the size by the amount of water you give them. If you sprinkle them frequently, they will grow. You can hold water; They will become slower and smaller.
Coleus
You don’t need to have flowers to have color. That’s why I like Coleus. There are also several varieties of this plant. The foliage varies in color from green lime to deep purple. Between the two, there are many shades of green, red, pink and mixed. They vary in size, going from 12 to 36 inches. These plants are ideal for shaded areas. They will tolerate the sun but will have to be watered more often.
Sunpatian
For colorful flowers in the shade, I succeeded the most with Sunpatians. The name would imply exactly the opposite. These are a hybrid variety of impatients. The impatients are known to thrive in the shade. Hybridization made these more tolerant in the sun. They will thrive in both. Again, with more sun, they will have to be watered more frequently. The flowers come in several colors. The foliage is also colorful and attractive.
Mother’s Day is a week from today. I would just like to remind everyone that mothers like flowers. I never met one who did not do it. Please keep this in mind when looking for the perfect gift it deserves.
