The old town will organize a meeting of the Mother’s Day community with live music, pet adoptions, food and more. The free performances of Jug Mountain Jug Band, the Folklorico del Norte and Divino ballet takes place in the Gazebo from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 11.

“There is no lack of ways of making a mother feel special, and you cannot be mistaken with a little air and time with the family,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Whether in the old town, a picnic in a park or a walk in the zoo, we have covered you.”

The Department of Animal Welfare of the City of Albuquerque will be on site with adoptable pets, and they will give up adoption costs as a treat for Mother’s Day. Children can enjoy the free facial paint and a 25 -foot climbing wall.

The Gazebo will welcome the merchants of the old town presenting their specialties. They will be joined by a number of old town restaurants in the service of their signing dishes. Quick bites ranging from roasted corn to chilaquiles will be available in local food trucks during the event.

The streets in and around Old Town Plaza will be closed to traffic on Mother’s Day. The parking lot is available in the field of the Albuquerque museum and the surroundings. Mother’s Day in the old town is an event of rain or shine. Pets well involved in leash are welcome.

Mother’s Day in the old town is sponsored by Iheart Radio.
