Life -style and metformin interventions have long -term advantages in the reduction of type 2 diabetes

The American diabetes prevention program, or DPP, reported on April 28, the 21 -year -old monitoring of a randomized clinical trial, showing that the intervention of an original intensive lifestyle has reduced the development of diabetes by 24% and metformin has reduced the development of diabetes by 17%.

The DPP had previously shown that after the first three years of study lifestyle aimed at moderate weight loss and increase physical activityand medication metformin has reduced the start of type 2 diabetes 58% and 31%, respectively, compared to a placebo medicine.
