New York (WABC) – In an effort to speak directly to the American people, the member of the New York Congress Hakeem Jeffries and the New Jersey Senator, Cory Booker, organized a demonstration and a discussion on the Sit-In live stages on Sunday.
Entitled “An urgent conversation with the American people”, the 8 -hour live discussion comes the return of the congress on Monday.
A statement published by the offices of the two officials said in part: “Republican leaders have clearly indicated their intention to use the coming weeks to advance an imprudent budget system at the office of President Trump who seeks to Inpiter Medicaid, to food aid and basic programs that help people, all to give tax breaks to billionaires. Given what is at stake, that could be the most consecutive weeks for the most consecutive weeks elderly and families in generations. “
During the conversation, representative Jeffries and Senator Booker planned to speak to shared American values and the religious and moral foundations of the nation, and how the budgetary bill is opposed to these beliefs. They also plan to assert to the Americans who look at the live broadcast that their voices are counting, especially at the moment in time.
Throughout the broadcast live, those responsible for the three states were joined by elected member colleagues from the House of American Representatives and the Senate to discuss the questions that matter to them and their voters. Curious groups of passers -by also found themselves sitting on the Capitol steps to listen to and weigh in the conversation.
