This is the latest episode in a series of world news entitled ‘On the edge“, Who profiles people who have trouble with the increase in the cost of living. In this story, we meet a woman who used the coupon to help her family save money.

While economic uncertainty feeds the prices of volatile grocery stores, Canadians may have the impression that their dollar is down.

Canada is negotiating billions of grocery stores with the United States, including $ 72.6 billion in agricultural and agrifood products, according to government data.

With the countries stuck in a trade war, the capacity of Canadians to access food and grocery store could change for the worst, said Matt Poirier, vice-president of federal government relations for the retail council of canada.

Now, more families will try to find ways to save and budget.

Meet Kathleen Cassidy, the creator behind Living On Loonie – an Instagram account focused on people to find ways to obtain offers and savings.

Toronto’s coupon said that in the middle of the cost of food and grocery store, people’s mentalities concerning the coupon and the money economy have changed.

“People are looking for … to spend a little more time and effort in things such as the coupon, while before the taboo (was),” oh, it takes a long time, it is not worth “”, said Cassidy.

In 2020, a year and a half after starting the account at the university, Cassidy saw life on a Huard starting to take off when the impacts of COVID-19 began to settle.

Five years later, it now has more than 217,000 subscribers and has noticed interest in its work and circulation through various waves of inflation – including today’s trade war.

Prices that should have an impact on prices in several sectors, Cassidy has ways to help people save.

“Start small. I always like to say watch a way you can save, master this, do very well, then go to other avenues,” she said.

Cassidy added that one of the obstacles to people who save money is brand loyalty and not to shop.

She says coupons can be for different brands that you have not tried or new articles entering the market.

“It’s really about being ready to try these new products to get a good deal and really know the sales cycles to save the most money,” she said.

Cassidy also recommends people to start budgeting and follow their expenses.

“I know that it takes a little time, but even spend 15 to 20 minutes a day to cross everything on an Excel spreadsheet, that’s all I did,” she said.

“You can really have the feeling of seeing where your money is going and how you can make small adjustments to cover these additional costs, especially since we see the essential elements of everyday.”

She recommends starting to start with the basics, such as planning meals for the week, planning what to buy and the search for leaflets.

“Most of the time, food waste is a huge problem, and people don’t necessarily think about it this way, but when the products go wrong in your refrigerator, you throw your dollars hard won,” Cassidy said.

Thanks to the coupon, Cassidy said that she had been able to give back to her community while helping her family.

“It really helped my family and I financially because I am able to support everyday articles and get good deals on food,” she said.

“It really helps our results so that we can save our dollars to do something we love and appreciate, or in times like this, to really save these dollars and put them where we need them.”

The fourth story of Global News has relaunched On the edge The series is expected to publish next Saturday.
