Colt Technology Services sells eight European data centers in Northc based in the Netherlands, saying that it wants to focus on building sustainable digital infrastructure.

The data centers – located in Amsterdam, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Francfurt, Hamburg, Munich and two in London – were one of the assets that Colt acquired with its acquisition of Lumen Emea in 2023. Between them, data centers have a power availability of more than 25 MW.

As part of the agreement, Colt’s sharedhouse activity, which has around 400 customers, will also be transferred.

The company is also associated with Northc, retaining network equipment in the eight data centers within the framework of its global digital infrastructure.

This connects 32,000 buildings in more than 40 countries, with more than 275 presence points (POP) and includes ten underwater cable systems. Colt Co-Gégie also AS3356, which, according to him, is the highest internet network in the world.

“We are delighted to have concluded this agreement to sell our data centers to Northc and the funds managed by DWS Group,” said Keri Gilder, CEO of Colt Technology Services.

“The sale will allow us to focus on our strategic imperatives of growth stimulation, to provide an exceptional customer experience and to create a sustainable network for the future.”

Northc was trained in 2020 thanks to the merger of Dutch data centers companies The Datacenter Group and NLDC. In 2021, the company extended to Germany with the acquisition of IP Exchange GmbH and in 2022, it also resumed the Swiss data centers of Netrics.

It currently has 13 data centers across the Netherlands, as well as two in Germany and four in Switzerland, with more development.

Northc said that the agreement with Colt will now help him increase his coverage in Benelux countries, Germany, Austria and Switzerland and establish national coverage in Germany. It also gives a big boost to the capacity of Northc in Amsterdam, one of its main markets.

“This represents another important step in our journey to exploit the main platform of regional data centers in northwest Europe. Germany, as the greater economy in Europe, is a key strategic market for us,” said Alexandra Schust, CEO of Northc Group.

“With this acquisition, we will strengthen our presence in the main economic regions in Germany, which will unlock new growth and new opportunities. We are also happy to further expand our partnership with Colt as one of the main network providers within the rich connectivity ecosystem in each installation.”
